User-Priority Based AV1 Coding Tool Selection

AV1 is an open-source video coding technique developed by Alliance for Open Media (AOMedia). Many powerful tools introduced to has made its encoding time significantly increased. In this paper, we aim at simplifying the encoder facilitating selection of some depending on users' specific application preference. We firstly design a tool OFF-test evaluate performance intra, inter, and in-loop filter in order define criterion importance each measuring Bjøntegaard delta bit rate (BDBR) loss saving (TS) when turned OFF. Furthermore, analyzed based predefined criterion. Lastly, suggest two intra methods, three inter overall methods simplify preference quality-priority or low-complexity-priority. Experimental results show that our proposed low-complexity-priority method saves 30.72% with only 0.91% BDBR sense, 4.64% 0.02% loss.
